The Modjadji Initiative is an international research partnership, comprised of scientists in South Africa (National Institute for Communicable Diseases), the United States (Scripps Research), and the United Kingdom (University of Birmingham).We also work extensively with the global public health research community, especially PHA4GE, the Public Health Alliance for Genomic Epidemiology. Our work is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Who is Modjadji?
Modjadji is the rain goddess and queen of the Balobedu people of South Africa. She possesses the power to control the clouds and the rain and make crops flourish, providing balance and prosperity to her people.
